An original eye-patch worn by legendary Israeli chief of staff and statesman, Moshe Dayan, was offered for a stunning $75,000 on Internet auction site eBay. The sellers obtained the eye-patch from a bodyguard of the late minister, who acquired it and a .38 caliber revolver soon after Dayan died in 1981.
Dayan was born in 1915 in what was then still Palestine and lost his eye in World War II as he fought alongside British troops in Syria. Chief of staff during the 1956 Sinai campaign against Egypt, Dayan served as defense minister during the 1967 Six Day War and as foreign minister in 1977. Although Dayan's revolver appears on the eBay site, it is not for sale as the website forbids the trading of weapons.
