Technical rarities set records at a Team Breker auction

A world’s leading specialty auction «Science & Technology» devoted to exceptional toys, office antiques and technical rarities was held by Auction Team Breker, in Cologne, Germany on June 18.
The top lot of the sales was an extremely rare American phonograph «Edison Idelia» 1907, preserved in perfect original condition. The item set a new world record with $40,000. Another highly sought-after phonograph, the «Edison Opera» 1911 made $10,795. Traditionally, typewriters are among the most popular items presented at the German auctions of Team Breker. The American «Edison Mimeograph No. 1 Typewriter», 1894 was sold for $11,565, an index typewriter «Edland», 1891 brought $8,481 and German «Secret & World Typewriter «Discret», 1899 set a new record of $16,962.
The legendary Ford Model T Touring, 1923, three door limousine in excellent driving condition went for $27,700. Among other lots sold at auction we can mention early English theodolite by J.A. Brown, c. 1790 ($8,481), grandfather clock by Lenzkirch, Black Forest with polyphonic disc musical box ($23.902), a rare WWII sound recorder «AEG Ton S.b.1», 1944 ($5,242) and German paper theatre «Urania» by Carl Beyer; c. 1885 ($3,700).
