Viewing of Bonhams’ Nelson and the Royal Navy Sale on July 1

During the week that Her Majesty the Queen reviews the British Naval fleet, important relics from Bonhams' Nelson and the Royal Navy Sale, which will take place on July 5, go on view to the public for the first time on Friday, July 1. The auction is devoted to the 200th anniversary of the battle of Trafalgar. It will celebrate Horatio Nelson’s spectacular naval career which culminated in the decisive victory at Trafalgar, a victory that changed the international balance of power in Britain’s favour for over 100 years
At the public viewing you will be able to see Admiral Lord Nelson's private property and personal effects, important and unpublished manuscripts written by Nelson and his trusted «band of brothers», love letters and tokens exchanged between Nelson and his mistress Emma Hamilton, striking paintings by world renowned artists depicting the Battle of Trafalgar, exiled French Emperor Napoleon's chamber pot and boot hooks, Nelson's Battle of the Nile silver dinner plates and meat dishes, elaborate swords, sea canons, pistols, medals and navy ship models. Prices for individual items will start from GBP500 and rise to over GBP100,000.
