Estimates start as low as $400.
Rene Lalique (1860-1945) was the leading French Art Nouveau jeweler and glass-maker who established a workshop in Paris in 1885 and later supplied jewelry for S. Bing's shop, l'Art Nouveau. Reacting against the 19th century fashion of large cut stones, Lalique preferred to make the setting of the piece as important as the stones. He liked to use asymmetrical patterns and adopted all the favorite motifs of the Art Nouveau artist. After 1902 he used clear crystal glass for his famous scent bottles, vases, boxes, and clocks engraved with frosted patterns of flowers, animals or figures. In 1909, he established his own glasshouse at Combes-la-Ville.
