A colour lithograph by renowned Russian-French artist Mark Chagall was auctioned at Painting and Silverware sales held by an auction house «Paragis» in Minsk on September 25. The work «Bird-woman» was estimated at $2,000. After intense bidding between three buyers the lithography was hammered at $3,000. According to auction rules, the name and nationality of the winning bidder was not disclosed.

Unfortunately, colour lithograph by Chagall «Green violinist» as well as etchings by Paul Cezanne and Eugene Delacroix failed to find new owners. Only thirty nine of 205 featured lots were realized at the auction (that makes 19%); only one coin was bought in the numismatics string, which comprised 67 pieces.

However, Ludmila Kononova, executive director of the auction house «Paragis» said that such a result could be considered as quite successful: «According to international standards, an auction is doing well when more than 10% of presented lots are sold».

Among most sought after auctioned pieces were etchings by Ivan Shishkin and Lazar Run, paintings by Victor Tikhonov, Igor Barkhatkov, Sergei Marytyan, Michael Kobyakov, and Andrei Bondarev. Silver and porcelain artworks attracted attention of buyers at the Minsk auction as well.
