An auction dedicated to the memory of a great jazz musician Dizzy Gillespie will be held on September 14 at the home of Dizzy Gillespie and his wife Lorraine. The couple was married for 53 years and moved into the house in Englewood, New Jersey in 1965.
The sales will feature items collected by Gillespie over the last 50 years of his life. This includes a Grammy Award, a bent trumpet, personal photographs including pictures with the first President Bush and Nancy Reagan and various musical instruments.
Dizzy Gillespie died 12 years ago. On one of the photographs that will be presented at the auction there is an inscription: «To my wife – Loraine – the only breath of fresh air that has ever entered my life. Yours, Dizzy».
