On September, 16 – 24, Paris – the Charpentier gallery will launch the Russian Ballets and their Time exhibition to the anniversary of the S.P. Dyagilev Russian Seasons.

Russian Seasons is one of the most considerable phenomena not only in the Russian culture but also in the Europe one of the early 20th century. Performances (1908-1914) of the S.P.Dyagilev’s ballet and opera troupes held in Europe radically changed the idea of Europeans about classical ballet, scenery, suits, colours and forms in art.

The exhibition represents sketches of theatrical suits, photos, newsreels, pieces of music and also a section of the French sculpture which reflects the influence of the Russian ballets on culture of France of the first quarter of the 20th century.

It is important to underline that the exhibition features only the works made under the influence of the Russian Seasons tours. They are Dmitry Chiparus's sculptures Russian Dancers representing Vaclav Nizhinsky and Ida Rubinshtein in Cleopatra, the Starfish ballets. Cleopatra inspired with the image of a sea tsarevna and B. Anisfeld’s suits combined the characters from Tamar and Cleopatra ballets.
