Antiq.Info #47 (December 2006)

Dear readers!

The last month of a year is the time of summing-up. The expiring year was extremely rich on important events and sensations in the world of art and antiques: XXI International Antique Fair in Moscow, subject sales held by major auction houses, numerous art projects and exhibitions of the national museums and galleries. Interest towards the Russian art is constantly rising. For instance, the recent "Russian week" in London has set a number of new price records. The much-publicized theft of unique showpieces from the State Hermitage has made antique dealers, museum staff and public officials think about the burning problems of the national antiquarian market. A startling statement concerning art expertise has been made by Anatoliy Vilkov, Deputy Director of the Federal Culture and Mass Media Supervision Agency. We remind our readers that now the specialists of the state museums have no right to conduct authenticity expertise of art pieces belonging to private collectors.
However, we believe that the incoming year will settle down all contradictions and bring many encouraging news and events.
We wish our readers a Happy New Year! Let your dear ones be happy and prosperous in the New Year 2007!

Maxim Chernykh, General Director of the CJSC "Russian Antique", Editor-in-Chief of "/" magazine
