Auction houses extending their range of influence pay more attention to Russia nowadays. Among such giants as Sotheby's, Bonham's and Christie's Bukowskis auction house has opened its department in Moscow. Last «Russian sales» of these auction houses made new price records and what is left is just to suppose new surprises at a world art market which develops constantly.
The opening of permanent exposition of the collection of Mstislav Rostropovich and Galina Vishnevaskaya in Konstantinovsky Palace was one of the brightest events of the previous month. Russian musicians had been collecting works in the course of 30 years. On December 2007, Russian businessman Alisher Usmanov redeemed this valuable collection on Sotheby’s auction sales and donated it to Russia.
