Antiq.Info #42/43 (July/August 2006)

Dear readers!

Summer is in its height. However, it is hot not only at resorts. Important sales are treading on each other’s heels. An absolute record has been set at Sotheby’s New York this summer: an extremely rare and unique bronze statuette «Artemis and a Deer» fetched stunning $28,000,000. Russian art is constantly rising in price as well. According to international experts and dealers, it is the upcoming trend at world auctions. Very successful «Russian Week» in London is a perfect proof of it.
Meanwhile, Russian art galleries and auction houses are paying close attention to Soviet art; collectors and traders are eagerly buying important art pieces created in the USSR in the middle of the XXth century.
In spite of summer heat, a number of classic auto competitions including «Elegant Oldtimer Rally» and a woman’s rally have taken place in Moscow recently.

We wish our readers pleasant vacations. Have a good time!
Maxim Chernykh,
Chief Executive Officer of CJSC Russian Antique,
Editor-in-Chief of the Antiq.Info magazine
