“Archaika–2007”: militaria and more
One of the organizers of the important exhibition was the antiquarian salon «ArtAntique». Among the organizers of the first national numismatic forum was a specialized numismatic firm «Coins and medals». Support and assistance in the organization of exhibition rendered the Federal Agency for supervision in the sphere of mass communications, connection and protection of cultural heritage (Rossvyazokhrankultura).
In the exhibition participated more than 70 exponents from many cities of Russia, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kurgan, Samara, Ekaterinburg, Chita and Vladivostok. The area, occupied by the display, was 1500 sq. m. In 4 days exhibition visited about 10,000 people. The project was covered by five television channels, two radio stations, are more than 30 newspapers, periodicals and other media outlets. «Antiq.Info» magazine was the main information sponsor of project. The dispaly presented to the attention of visitors the widest circle of the objects, correlated with the subject divisions of exhibition. These are, in the first place, antiquarian weapon, and also military uniform, outfit, numsmatics, faleristiks, bonistiks, deltiology, philately, the objects of the custom of the military campaigns of different historical epochs, rare books and more. Among participants in the first specialized exhibition «Archaika–2007» were the largest Russian auction houses «Kabinet», «Krostbi», «Alexander», «Gelos», «Konros»; the leading salons, galleries and the stores, which are specialized in the military antiquariate «Arbatskaya Nakhodka», «Russian chambers», «The Arsenals of the world», «Historical center», «Warrior», «Sword and Helmet», «Elizabeth», the workshop-studio «RussFront», «The salon of the Japanese antiques». In the number of exponents were registered «Art-heritage the 20th century», «Neoclassicist», «Gala», «Cold Steel Arms of Russia. S.V. Pashikhin», master Soskov, company «Collectible Automobiles», «The Silver Wolf»; funds of the Russian Federation, including «Russian champions» and the fund for the revival of traditions of Russian collecting; private collectors Pavel Kapranov, Oleg Alenin and other collectors of weaponry and militaria, and also publishing house «Atlas». With the noncommercial dispalays in the exhibition «Archaika–2007» participated two state museums of Russia — The Military History Museum of Artillery, of Engineers and Signal corps (Saint Petersburg) and The Central Museum of World War II 1941–1945 (Moscow). Among participants of the first all-Russian numismatic forum were renowned numismatists, faleristis, rare book collectors, deltiologists, philatelists: Denis Lapaev, Vadim Bunin, Alexander Baranov, Pavel Klyuchnikov, Dmitriy Domozhirov, Gennadiy Gubanov, Andrey Pyatygin, and also companies «Mezmat», «Russian numismatic house», «Russian Coins», «MasterVision», TD «Biblio-globus», «Chronicle», «Collector», «Interkrim — press», internet-auctions Soldes.ru, Serbia-money.ru, and also Goznak. Within the business program of exhibition from September 7 to September 8 there was the scientific conference «Military Antiques». Purpose of scientific conference — consideration of the vital problems of the acting Russian and international legislation on the protection of cultural values, scientific reports in the sphere of military outfitting, military outfit, rewards. Many problems were raised and were discussed at the scientific conference. The program of conference included the following themes: Arms and armour and military science in Russia. Total results (A.N. Kirpichnikov, Professor of St. Petersburg State University); Contemporary general approaches to writing of scientific publications on the history of military uniform (A.V. Kibovskiy, docent); International and Russian legislation, which regulates the legal status of antiquarian weapon (E.D. Shelkovnikova, the professor of Moscow state linguistic university); Special features of the attribution of antiquarian weapon, rewards and military outfit (V.R. Klimov, Rossvyazokhrankultura); Subject and stylistic special features of the artistic formulation of sea officer dirks (I.P. Sukhanov, The Central Naval museum, St. Petersburg); The attribution of military outfit began with the demonstration of DVD-film (A.V. Aranovich, The Military History Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Signal corps); Orders of St. George (A.V. Kirilin, the Head of the Military-memorial center of the armed forces of the Russian Federation); «New» faleronimy of Civil War in Russia» (Kornakov, the member of heraldic council with the President of the Russian Federation; Rare models of Russian honourable weapons as the worthy objects of collecting (V.A. Durov, professor, The State Museum of History); Societies of the historians of Moscow and Saint Petersburg: All-Union association of historians; Society of historians «Arsenal» — our history (I.A. Komarov, V.A. Olshanskiy); Antiquarian weapons of China — V.E. Belanovskiy («ArtAntique»). Cold steel arms of armed forces (A.V. Averyanov, private collector, Moscow); Contemporary foreign private collectors of antiquarian cold steel weapons (D.A. Fedurin, private collector, St. Petersburg); Duels of the military officers in the Russian Empire — law and reality E.D. Shelkovnikova, the professor of Moscow State inguistic university). E.D. Shelkovnikova, chairman of the organization committee of exhibition, thus commented the taken place conference: «At this conference appeared the chief historians of Saint Petersburg and Moscow, and private collectors of the both cities also for the first time with scientific reports came forward… The State Cultural Heritage and Mass Media Supervision Agency (Rosokhrankultura) proposed two ideas: to create the association of restorers of metal artworks, which is intended to develop and to accept «the law of honor» of restorers, and the association of historians. Rossvyazokhrankultura promised to render assistance in the organization of these associations of every kind. Therefore we think that the activity of these associations will contribute to the retention of the cultural heritage of our country». Besides the scientific conference, within the framework the business program of exhibition passed the master-class on the restoration of metal. Among the participants of the event were V.E. Belanovskiy; the restorer of the highest category, the deputy head of the department of the restoration of the metal of the State Scientific Research Institute, V.V. Vetluzhskikh; the restorer of the Department of metal of the State Pushkin museum. Numismatic forum also did not remain aside. Guests could listen to comprehensive lectures and take part in the captivating discussions and the seminars on the most different themes, such as «Paper monetary terms in the history», «Auction activity in Russia» (I.A. Lavruk), «History of Soviet coins» (M.M. Gleyzer), «Coins of the USSR of special die» (L.F. Petrov). On September 8 the salon «ArtAntique» conducted second¬hand book auction titled «Numsmatics in the book». More than 120 lots were put out for sale: antiquarian and contemporary literature on the numsmatics, faleristiks, bonistiks and adjacent disciplines.
